We found an untapped niche inside the AI image & video category, built the app in 3 days, launched it in another 3, and crossed $10K MRR in 2 weeks.

A few weeks ago, we noticed something interesting.

The AI image & video category is extremely crowded. Every week, there is a new avatar app, photo editor, anime generator, headshot tool, or AI video app.

But inside this crowded category, there are still small gaps. Niches with clear demand, strong content potential, and weak competition on mobile.

We found one of those gaps.

So we moved fast.

We developed the first version of the app in 3 days and launched it in 2. The goal was not to build the perfect product. The goal was to test the opportunity before the window closed.

The first version was simple:

  • Clear niche positioning

  • Strong onboarding

  • AI generation flow

  • Subscription paywall

  • Basic analytics

  • App Store-ready metadata

A few days after launch, something unexpected happened. An Instagram influencer discovered the app, made a video about it, and the video went viral.

It passed 1M views.

That brought in a wave of real users, real installs, real paywall views, and real subscriptions. More importantly, it gave us the signal we needed.

There was real demand.

Once we saw that, we started running ads immediately.

Because organic virality is not the business. Organic virality is the signal. The business starts when you can turn that signal into predictable paid growth.

Within 2 weeks, the app crossed $10K MRR.

And the unit economics were already working. Every day, we are making roughly 1.5x our ad spend back as net profit.

Not revenue.

Net profit.

That changes everything. Because when an app can profitably buy users this early, growth stops being a guessing game and starts becoming a compounding machine.

Our current target is $50K MRR within 3 months. At that point, depending on growth, profit, and category, this can become a $2M+ asset.

And the crazy part is the capital efficiency.

We can potentially reach that point by spending around $200K in total.

In what other sector can you turn $200K into a $2M asset in 3 months?

Not real estate.

Not e-commerce.

Not agencies.

Not most SaaS businesses.

But in mobile apps, it is possible.

Not easy. But possible.

Only if you know how to pick the right niche, launch fast, test monetization early, and scale with discipline.

Why this worked

Most people treat apps like traditional software projects. They spend months planning, designing, developing, and polishing before they know whether the market even wants the product.

We treated this app like a fast-moving growth asset.

The advantage was not just the idea. Ideas are cheap.

The real advantage was speed.

We found the opportunity, shipped the first version in days, watched the market reaction, and pushed into paid growth as soon as the numbers made sense.

That speed matters because these windows do not stay open forever. If a niche is working today, it will be copied tomorrow.

Steal the playbook

Find a category with clear demand but weak mobile execution.

Look for niches where content can go viral naturally.

Build only the first version needed to test the market.

Launch in days, not months.

Track onboarding, paywall views, trials, subscriptions, refunds, and ad performance from day one.

Use organic traction as a signal, not as the full strategy.

Start paid ads once the numbers show potential.

Improve product, paywall, and creatives every week.

Scale only when the unit economics support it.

TL;DR

We found an underserved AI app niche, built the app in 3 days, launched it in another 3, got discovered by an Instagram influencer, passed 1M viral views, started ads, and crossed $10K MRR in 2 weeks.

Now we are pushing it toward $50K MRR.
